The Image above of a local Magnolia tree in spring reminds me that the dark nights of November and December will soon pass.
Cambolc or Cambridge Online Learning Community Aims
Cambolc has been blogging developing and posting for nearly 11 years now. There have been test runs with other online learning communities ideas. A hobby and professional interest that has been a journey of discovery that has cost less annually than a golf club subscription. As I approach the time where I will no longer have to work in the classroom as my carer responsibilities will inevitably cease I am ramping up the effort to make Cambolc the sustainable entity it should be. A Matrix moment but I do not claim to be Neo.
So what are our aims. In simple terms they are:
- To promote Life Long Learning
- To promote access to Universal Education
- To empower individuals to become teachers of their own knowledge to others
Hopefully my wish list below will inspire the reader of this article to set some Life Long Learning goals for 2024. At present my goals before the end of 2023 and into 2024 are:
- To continue learning Hindi for the reason that India is part of my family history, at present I am on a 64 day streak with Duolingo
- To complete my Secondary Teaching Certificate for Computer Science with the National Centre for Computing Education that I have been on the brink of for thee last 4 years but always just at the point of completion the goal posts have changed. I have been teaching Secondary Computer Science for 25 years so not having the piece of paper has been not a handicap.
- To become Google Classroom Level 1 Educator Certified which takes 15 hours
- Spend 30 minutes minimum per day on personal lifelong learning activities through LinkedIn learning, Duolingo and developing Cambolc.
