We are in the merry month of May. One of the annual events in the Greater Cambridge area is the Bartlow Three Counties Charity Walk. This is one of the events I have always said I would do. A bucket list item as you would. With being a long term carer of elderly parents until last September when the last one passed as well a full time day job, well. Never got round to it when I really should have. So tomorrow I am not so much as going wild in the country (a reference to the 1980s song by Bow Wow Wow) more a Village Preservation Society moment.

Have my bus tickets booked an bought on the StageCoach App to the nearest bus stop to the start of the walk in Bartlow. I have chosen to the 9 mile walk. With walking from bus stop to start and back from finish (same place) I will walk a total of 11 miles. Aiming to start at 9.30 and be some of the first off. As I go I will be recording the experience on my Android phone using the Discover Suffolk App. I will also be posting on Bluesky.

I shall be walking past an ancient landscape. The Three Hills Pub at Bartlow is named after the burial mounds in the village. While Castle Camps on the route is had an RAF fighter base in World War Two, has the ruins of a medieval castle and apparently a Roman Military Camp. The place where I am getting the bus to is on the ancient Icknield Way Path which runs for 110 miles from Buckinghamshire to Suffolk.

So I will end the blog there in preparation to putting my best foot forward for health and wellbeing tomorrow.
