Cambolc’s Wellbeing Journey: 500 Pennies of thought on Wellbeing:  Newsletter #1

The Ghostbuster phrase “don’t cross the streams” applies to this second thread of Newsletters.  They will  still come as part of the Cambolc #LinkedInNewsletter series but be a container for the many interests that Cambolc encompasses.  A multifaceted peer to peer #OnlineLearningCommunity which also reaches out on other social media platforms (see Social Media Section below).  The aim is this will become the repository of all those thoughts on Wellbeing.  I was a trained Wellbeing Facilitator in the workplace for many years in tandem with the many other hats that I wore at the time.

As #Easter approaches we start to hit the #BankHoliday season.  If your last three months have been anything like mine it will come as a welcome break.  Life has changed since the last Bank Holiday on New Year’s Day.  We have a fresh set of challenges.  As I often won’t to say if you hit a brick wall there are four ways round it (probably more).  You can:

  • Go round it, might involve turning right or left and following the wall to you reach the end
  • Go under it
  • Go over it, preferably with  little help from a friend or friends standing against the wall and giving a boost or leg up to reach the top of the wall, hopefully the drop the other side is minor
  • Or head down smash through the wall, the most painful sometimes of the available options

So as we pause to step of the work treadmill over the #Easter Weekend I am going to share with you a fun, nutritious (eventually) activity that you can do solo, in a group or with the family:  Square Foot Gardening.

My own efforts #upcycling a bed frame that could not be disposed of to charities (wouldn’t take as no mattress) or the Scouts (they couldn’t make fires with it as varnished). So a bit of construction skills later..!

In these days of #costofliving crisis it is possible to grow enough food for as family of four on a metre by a metre with careful successive planting.  Food miles are as far as it takes to walk from your kitchen door.  Taste is far superior.  Freshness is as good it gets.  The #Wellbeing buzz of producing your own food with family, yourself or friends spans many activities related to mindfulness and sustainability.

Whether it is herbs, vegetables or edible flowers the transformation of these ingredients in your cooking can be an aide to a healthy lifestyle.  Personally I am a great fan and advocate of the Mediterranean Diet (see the further reading) especially the Greek Diet.   Aggod #GreekCoffee first thing in the morning not withstanding!
